Volunteer

We don’t have a particular person in mind when we’re looking for volunteers so if you have some time and want to support us, get in touch! We have Young Leaders aged 14 to 18 and then a range of adult volunteer roles to suit most people’s availability and interest.

You don’t need any experience at all to volunteer, we provide training and support for all roles. We find many people are worried about volunteering with Scouts because they were never a Scout themselves but please don’t give this a second thought – most of our team came in brand new to Scouts and learned everything they needed to know very quickly! You don’t need any experience of working with disabled people.

All of our activities take place on a Monday evening or at weekends, so most of our volunteer roles are on a Monday evening. We do have some occasional roles that don’t involve a Monday evening so please still get in touch.

It depends on your role with us. We are a Scout Group so we do wear a uniform at our activities, but not all our roles are involved in direct activity delivery. We can discuss this when we chat about what volunteer role you think would fit best. 

All our volunteers must complete a PVG check because the safety of our members is our top priority. There is also mandatory training in safeguarding and safety which is completed online. Depending on your role there may be other training however this will be discussed with you when you begin your new role with us.
