We provide support for young people with a broad range of care needs, including personal care. At all times this is carried out with dignity and respect and mindful of the Scout Association’s Child Protection Policy which seeks always to safeguard children from harm and the principles of the National Care Standards.

All our work in this area is governed by five clear principles – our ‘Principles of Care’:

  • All Scouts should be and feel safe at all times

  • All Scouts will be treated with respect and dignity

  • All Scouts will experience nurturing care and support by volunteers who fully understand their needs

  • All Scouts have the right to exercise their own independence as much as possible – of thought, decision making and in practical actions

  • All Scouts will be included in every activity, with appropriate adaptations made to meet the needs of each young person
